Bickerton
Last week the year 9's were treated to a full day John Muir trip out to Bickerton in Cheshire.
We went out to forage for different foods and explore the Sandstone trail and the caves on the trail that have been made by hundreds of years of weather carving out the landscape.
Firstly, we picked some sweetcorn from the plants growing in a nearby field, then we introduced everyone to a new fruit - Damson's!! They were perfectly ripe and very tasty. We found a few blackberries too along the way. Then as we walked through the multitudes of pheasants and grouse we explored the caves hidden under the hill.
We found 'Musket's hole' first where bandits used to hide their loot from robberies in the area. Then we scrambled down to the 'Queens Cave' where we brewed up hot chocolate and played manhunt in the dark!
It was a great experience learning about the history and geography of the area and the weather even stayed nice for us!
Well done, everyone
