An Update from Mr Hopkins - 14.10.24

The past week has been a busy one for Spring Brook Upper's Outdoor Education provision. 5 classes have been out to work towards their John Muir award:
Mr Atkins' class visited Blackstone Edge to explore the Roman road, see the Aeggin Stone, Parkour across the rocks to the Trig point and lie in Robin Hood's bed!

Miss Bachelor's class went to Tameside to explore Staley Brook which involved a huge amount of teamwork to navigate the slippery hill down to the brook, find the tunnels and the swings and then navigate their way through the woodland.

Mr Gair-Joseph's class had to make a detour at Dovestones as the path we were going to trek was shut for game shooting!! Instead we got to test our fitness and climb a huge hill up to Ashway Rocks where we had some amazing views - despite the rain!

Miss Calvo's class took a long journey out into the Cheshire plain to the Sandstone trail at Bickerton to explore the trail, 2 caves and do some foraging that included picking some sweetcorn and sweet chestnuts and eating damsons and blackberries.

Miss Waterhouse's class went out to a local Scout campsite to learn how to light fires with a flint and steel and then got a fire going proper to cook sausage sandwiches on it!!

All in all, an amazing week of adventures where it was so good to see all of our pupils supporting each other and having amazing experiences in different parts of our local area.

Well done, everyone!
