Remembrance Day Hike
As we are nearing Remembrance day the year 9's got to spend a day hiking up to the B29 Plane wreck by the Shelf Stones on Snake Pass.
It gave us a lot of opportunity to talk about the war, what an American Recon plane was doing flying over Derbyshire during the war and how the limited technology available at the time caused the crash in poor weather.
We thoroughly explored the wreckage and worked out how long it had been there before laying a wreath that Hannah, one of our year 7 students, had made for us to take.
After the wreckage we climbed up on the shelf stones but couldn't enjoy the normally spectacular view due to being in the clouds!!!
A great day of bringing history to life!
